In a wonderful move, the Oscars show producers announced Thursday that Grammy-winning country star Tim McGraw will perform the Academy Award-nominated “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” at the ceremony on Feb. 22. The song was written by Glen Campbell and Julian Raymond for the documentary “Glen Campbell … I’ll Be Me,” which highlights the legendary singer’s final tour as he battled Alzheimer’s disease.
“We couldn’t think of anyone better than Tim McGraw to properly celebrate Oscar nominee Glen Campbell. Tim is the consummate country artist and will bring a bit of Nashville to the Oscars stage,” said show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in a statement.
Campbell has withdrawn from public appearances as he and his family deal with the challenges of living with Alzheimer’s.
Along with “I’m Not Gonna Miss You,” the other four nominees for best original song this years are “Everything Is Awesome” from “The Lego Movie,” “Glory” from “Selma,” “Grateful” from “Beyond the Lights” and “Lost Stars” from “Begin Again.”
